10/12/18: Outer bands of Hurricane Michael brought five to six inches of rainfall to the Roanoke Valley yesterday. As a result, many parks, trails, and sections of paved greenway sustained damage and are still underwater. Staff will be working hard to get park facilities open, but it will likely take until next week for a full assessment of the damage.
All activities planned for the Roanoke River Greenway this weekend have been canceled. Here is a comprehensive list of all park, trail, and greenway closures until further notice:
- Carvins Cove (all trails)
- Roanoke River Greenway
- Tinker Creek Greenway
- Murray Run Greenway
- Smith Park
- Wasena Park
- River’s Edge South
- Lakewood Park
- River’s Edge South Tennis Courts
