Great news, trail enthusiasts! We’re making a big improvement to the Bennett Springs Parking Lot at Carvins Cove Natural Reserve this summer. After months of fundraising through a partnership with Roanoke’s Chapter of the International Mountain Biking Association and Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge, we are ready to install a new waterless restroom facility!
Anticipated Installation Date: Wednesday, July 12
The new restroom is planned to be installed on Wednesday, July 12. Stakes and flagging are currently in place to mark off where the facility will be located beside the parking lot. Please note that while construction takes place on July 12, the Bennett Springs lot will be closed to all trail users. Street parking is not available at Bennett Springs, which means you’ll need to park at the Timberview or Boat Dock lots to access the trails. If you’re new to the trails near Timberview, consider taking Horse Pen to Lakeside Trail to catch some beautiful views of the reservoir.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
Several community partners worked together to promote this initiative and we are excited to see all of our hard work coming to fruition. In addition to contributions from Roanoke Parks and Recreation, RIMBA, and Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge, Avis Construction is donating staff time and installation materials. On behalf of the thousands of trail lovers who park at Bennett Springs each year: Thank You!
