Parks Jobs
Our dedicated Parks team is made up 46 full-time staff and ~15 part-time staff. Park sections include Landscape Management, Park Management, Trails & Greenways, and Urban Forestry.
Landscape Management
Roanoke Parks and Recreation’s Landscape Management section maintains all of the city’s landscaping and grass mowing.

Trails & Greenways
The Trails and Greenways team is responsible for the 100+ mile trail and greenway system in the City of Roanoke. This includes seven different greenways, and trails at all city parks, including Mill Mountain and Carvins Cove trail networks.
Urban Forestry
The City of Roanoke’s Urban Forestry team of professionals is responsible for maintaining a healthy forest ecosystem in the city through tree/stump removal, tree planting, reforestation, insect and disease control, inspections, surveys, storm response, and more.

Our diverse Recreation crew includes 13 full-time staff and ~140 part-time staff. Recreation encompasses Athletics, Community Recreation, Events, Outdoor Recreation, and Youth Development.

Community Recreation
The Community Recreation team is responsible for managing the Historic Fishburn Mansion, planning community-minded recreation programs and managing the city pools in the summer. Community Recreation programs include affordable everyday fitness for all ages, arts and culture programs, music and dance, trips and tours, events and weekly activities for seniors, yoga and more.

Youth Development
Roanoke’s Youth Development team delivers the After School P.L.A.Y. (Positive Learning and Adventure for Youth) program at three recreation centers: Eureka Recreation Center, Grandin Court Recreation Center and Preston Recreation Center, as well as providing camps in the summer months.
