Ten minutes is all it takes to help reimagine recreation in the City of Roanoke. More indoor gym space? A splash pad? Options for childcare at facilities? Here’s your chance to let us know what changes you’d like to see.
For the next three weeks, the Reimagine Roanoke Online Survey will be open for citizen feedback. This survey asks questions about what residents would like to see from their recreation centers and pool facilities, how they should be maintained, and how they’d like to see these changes happen. With the opportunity for Capital Improvement Funds heading our way, now is our chance to create better facilities for our citizens. The survey is online and available in English and Spanish; however, if you know of someone who doesn’t have internet access, we are also placing paper surveys in our City libraries and Eureka Park, Preston Park, and Grandin Court recreation centers.
Roanoke Parks and Recreation’s Reimagine Recreation Campaign focuses on the outdated recreation centers and pool facilities in the City. The newest of these was built in the 70s, and our residents need and deserve 21st-century facilities. In March and April, the Department hosted community and stakeholder input meetings to reimagine what these spaces could be. Through those meetings, we narrowed down what the community valued and created this survey to help us fine tune the plan.
Please take a couple of minutes to answer these questions and help guide the Department in making these improvements.
