About the Historic Fishburn Mansion, formerly Mountain View Recreation Center
The Historic Fishburn Mansion is the most unique recreation center in the city, and home to our Community Recreation programming! This 100+ year old home hosts weekly programs, daily card players, special events, and is even a popular wedding venue! The building is also home to a recording studio, complete with extensive equipment and professional staff, and recording time is available at a low-cost. The mansion is open to the public on Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and on Fridays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and the beautiful grounds of Mountain View Park are open to the public every day from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. You can also sign up for a tour of the mansion, held monthly!
1. Roanoke 100 Miler
There’s a reason this is one of our most popular programs year after year! The Roanoke 100 Miler is the perfect way to start your year on the right foot. With a manageable goal, it’s easier than ever to stay motivated during the winter months. You can walk, bike, run, or complete 30-minutes of human powered activity (like yoga, rock climbing, etc.).
2. Middle Eastern Style Tambourine Workshop
Discover the enchanting sounds of the Tambourine in our engaging and community-focused drumming workshop. Led by a compassionate instructor from The Beat Goes On Salem, this class will awaken your inner musician and offer a unique opportunity to connect with others through the universal language of music.
3. Winter Senior Club
We’re so excited for another season of our Senior Club at the Fishburn Mansion! This quarterly program is a perfect opportunity to find community and enjoy fun activities once each month. The Winter Senior Club starts this January with a game day, and meets again in February for crafts, and March for a social!
