Solar Eclipse Viewing Event
Did you miss the Great American Eclipse in 2017? Not to worry. There is an eclipse coming on April 8th, 2024!
While Roanoke will not see a total solar eclipse, you can still witness the eclipse at 88% coverage, without having to travel anywhere. Join Parks and Recreation Naturalists on Mill Mountain for the viewing event. This won’t be something you’ll want to miss, as the next solar eclipse to cross the United States won’t be until 2045.
The Eclipse will begin at 1:57pm, peak at 3:15pm, and end at 4:29pm. Pack a cooler with snacks and drinks, and bring a chair or blanket.
Registration (Cost: $2) is not required, but if you register you are guaranteed a pair of Eclipse Viewing Glasses.
And, if you can’t attend on April 8th, Eclipse Viewing Glasses will be on sale at the Mill Mountain Discovery Center leading up to April 8th.
