Through a partnership with the Roanoke Public Libraries, Roanoke Parks and Recreation is working on bringing stories to our local parks through a program called StoryWalk®. StoryWalks are free, interactive exhibits in local parks and trails that encourage early literacy, healthy lifestyles, and family interaction through storytelling.
The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
Throughout the spring, you can visit the traveling StoryWalk displays in several parks, libraries and schools. Check out the schedule below for dates, times, and locations. Our goal is to start raising money to put permanent displays in several parks, the first one being Elmwood Park.
Join us as we work toward adding StoryWalks in several of our local parks!
Help make our goal a reality!
We are looking for sponsors to help make our goal of at least one StoryWalk in every corner of the city a reality. Please see below for investment levels.
