Trips and Tours With Play roanoke
Yeah, we’re called PLAY Roanoke, but that doesn’t mean we can’t venture out of town every once in a while, right? Our team members work hard to plan really cool, hassle-free trips outside our region, and we hope you’ll tag along! Here are a few coming up:
Florida’s Nature Coast
February 21-25 (Register by February 7)
Florida’s “Nature Coast,” located along the Gulf of Mexico on Florida’s western shores, has almost a million acres to explore from blackwater rivers to dense forests and swamps to crystal clear springs. On this five-day, four-night adventure, we’ll travel to a different adventure each day. After driving down from Roanoke, we’ll be ready to stretch our sea legs on a kayak excursion along the salt marshes of the St. Martin’s preserve followed by a visit to the Homasassa Springs Wildlife State Park, complete with an underwater observatory and Florida wildlife viewing. Our next day of adventure will find us snorkeling with the Florida manatees in Kings Bay, as well as catching the highlights at Weeki Wacki Springs State Park, home to the famous mermaid show and Florida’s only spring-fed waterpark. We’ll conclude the trip with a morning kayak along the Chassahowitzka River (also known as the “Chaz”) before heading on glass bottomed boat tour at Silver Springs State Park, one of the largest artesian springs in the world. Join us as we paddle, snorkel, and hike our way around the “Nature Coast!” Transportation to/from Roanoke, all activity and entrance fees, lodging, and leadership included. Participants are responsible for the cost of meals. Participants must be able to swim.
Please note: Parent or guardian must be present on this trip for participants under age 18.
