What is HAPPiFEET?
HAPPiFEET is a mobile app that allows users to share and report their park experiences in real-time using GPS location. Additionally, park users can share pictures and video along with text detailing any issues (dirty bathrooms, vandalism, safety hazards) or areas of praise (a new amenity, good customer service, clean facilities).
Once reported, HAPPiFEET will notify staff in real-time who can then respond to user comments and address concerns. Staff can even follow up privately with users to let them know what action was taken. We should note, however, that most Parks and Recreation staff work 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, so some comments may not be addressed until the following business day.
In addition to real-time notifications, HAPPiFEET also shows users all of the 70 parks, greenways, plazas, and recreation centers we manage along with the amenities at each. If you’re curious about ADA accessibility or which parks and centers have public restrooms, the app has all of that (and more) listed. The app gives park goers an opportunity to explore parks that they might not have otherwise.
How do I join?
It is easy! HAPPiFEET is available for both iPhones and Androids. Just search “Roanoke HAPPiFEET” in the app store and download that app. Once installed, agree to the terms and conditions, and you are ready to roll. Side note: you will have to allow HAPPiFEET to access your location in order for GPS services to work.
